“Before television and movies, reading books was one of the most popular and widespread forms of entertainment, information, and social connection.” 1
We could read alone or read aloud to others. Reading allowed us to connect with a person or character in the story. To some, it encouraged creativity to construct our own ideas into a plot with twists and turns.
“You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in Your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.” Psalm 139:16 NLT

God knew all about you before your birth. He knew the joys and celebrations and the challenges that would come your way. One of the great mysteries in life is that God gives us a choice to walk in His way for our lives or to turn our backs on Him and follow our own paths. (Proverbs 3:5,6)

Where do we go from here? God has given us a road map- His love letter to us, to help us each day. Inside the Bible, we have the treasured stories of ancient heroes like Abraham, Moses, Daniel, Esther, and Joshua. Most importantly, we have the Gospels, which tell us about our Lord and Savior Jesus. We read of his teachings and miracles. His love and compassion are woven through each encounter with Him.
As you start each day, I hope you begin with prayer, thanking God for another opportunity to walk in fellowship with Him. If you do not have a relationship with Jesus, I beg you to try Jesus. No, your life will not be void of trouble, but you will have the Creator in your corner. He will make a way, or walk with you through the “shadow of death.” Psalm 23:4 KJV
