A Different World

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am” John 14: 1-3 NIV.

It was during the Last Supper that Jesus fellowshipped with His disciples. Their hearts were heavy. Their Rabbi (Teacher), Lord, and Master was explaining the crucial and devastating moments that were soon coming. For three years, they followed Jesus and witnessed His teaching, His miracles, and His parables; they also experienced His character and knew they wanted to be like Him. Forgiveness, Love, Truth, Respect, and so much more were many of the traits that reflected the Father’s and the Spirit’s image.

“But you are God’s chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things He has done. ” 1 Peter 2:9 CEV

How are we different? Once we confess our sins before God and ask His Holy Spirit into our lives, we then walk in fellowship with His Son, Jesus. We love our enemies and pray for them (Matthew 5:44). We live by the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) and follow the two greatest commandments that Jesus instructed: “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’”

Back in the late 60s and through the 70s, there was a singer and musician, Sammy Hall. He shared his personal testimony of how he used to be in a Rock and Roll band and was on his way to Hell. The busy life of a famous musician offered survival in the form of illegal drugs. He shared the scripture, “There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way of death” Proverbs 14:12 NKJV.

After surrendering his life to Jesus, he formed a new group, the Sammy Hall Singers. One of the many beautiful songs he sang about Heaven was “Different World.”

“Satan won’t be there to hassle me day and night;
Conflict will be banished from my mind;
Jesus will be teaching Paul and Luke and John;
We won’t even know a word called time.” 1

Are you tired of running and chasing dead ends? Don’t try to do everything on your own. Reach out to Jesus! He loves you so much.

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” John 15:13 NKJV.
