His Watchful Eye
“Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 ESV

This past Sunday, our family was heading out to go to church. While we were stopped at a red light, I glanced over at a bus stop and saw a young man waiting. His daughter, who looked to be about five years old, was happily running in the opposite direction toward the end of the sidewalk. Her dad watched as she stopped when he called to her, and then turned back and ran to him. During that sweet moment, the Lord impressed upon my heart, “That is how I want My relationships with all my children. I give you space to step out on your own, but I always have you in My sight. I want you to know My arms are always open wide to receive you again. I love you more than you will ever realize.”

Tears started to fill my eyes as I continued to watch dad and daughter together. Suddenly, she wrapped her small arms around her dad’s legs in a loving embrace. Her dad, startled by the sweet gesture, glanced up and saw me watching them. He pointed over at our car, and the two of them waved. I waved and smiled back as the light turned green and we went on our way. Thank You, Lord, for the gentle reminder of how You love us!
