“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV

I know I’m early for Thanksgiving, but we don’t have to wait a whole year to be thankful for the blessings the Lord gives us everyday!
For those of you who are our weekly clients at our food pantry, we thank you for being a big part of our lives.
Reverend Kevin and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful team of volunteers, (check them out on our blog). They are hard-working, faithful and enthusiastic about helping our community.
Just today, as Kevin was doing one of his three (3) day food pick-ups to be prepared for Tuesday’s food giveaway, he had a major issue with his box truck. He had already made one trip to the Maryland Food Bank, dropped off food to the pantry, and was heading back across the Key Bridge for another load when his speed began slowing down. He had his foot on the gas, but the truck was beginning to crawl.
“Lord, let me get off the bridge,” Kevin prayed. He was able to get off the bridge and pull over to the side of the road.

As Kevin told me what happened, he told me several things for which he was thankful.
- “I’m thankful God got me over the bridge.”
- “I’m glad I didn’t have a load of food on the truck. Most of which would have been fresh or frozen and sitting in 90 degree weather would have been a major challenge.”
- “I’m thankful that while I was on the left lane of the bridge and was trying to get over (as my speed was dropping from 60 mph to 10 mph in a hurry), I didn’t have an accident with other vehicles.”
- “I’m thankful that my neighbor, (who is one of our volunteers), came to my rescue and took me home. I was able to leave my vehicle until a tow truck came along and parked it in my driveway.”
God works everything out for our good and for His glory.
Do we still need to find a way to afford to get the truck fixed and back on the road? Yes.
Do we have to make other arrangements for pick-ups and delivery? Yes.
We know that God will make a way for us to continue to serve Him and our community!
