Everyday with Jesus

There is a song I learned as a child titled “Every Day with Jesus.” 1

“EVERY DAY WITH JESUS IS SWEETER THAN THE DAY BEFORE
EVERY DAY WITH JESUS, I LOVE HIM MORE AND MORE
JESUS SAVES AND KEEPS ME, AND HE’S THE ONE I’M WAITING FOR
EVERY DAY WITH JESUS IS SWEETER THAN THE DAY BEFORE”

As we are now in our third day of the New Year, let’s do a spiritual health check. Are we daily growing in our walk with the Lord? Some of the ways to keep us moving in the right direction are: reading the Bible, spending time in devotions, and in prayer. Other suggestions are surprising a loved one with a gift, helping the hungry with food. There are numerous ways to grow in our love for God and each other. Praising and worshiping with other believers is an incredible way of celebrating the Lord, and He blesses us in return with overwhelming joy and gratitude.

There are two ways to be in the presence of God. One is in fellowship with other believers. It is usually in a church setting, but it can also occur in a hospital room, the middle of the woods, or a grocery store, among other places. The list is endless. The other way to be in the presence of God is on an individual basis. I love waking up early while others in the family are still sleeping. This is usually my time for prayer and personal devotions, but sometimes the Holy Ghost touches my heart in such a way that I feel a wave of anointing and blessing. I feel that in that moment, I’m experiencing just a small piece of His glory.

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14 KJV.
