“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined” Isaiah 9:2 KJV.

On Tuesday, November 25, 2027, Kevin and I headed to Strasburg, PA, where he would soon settle in for a season of portraying the jolly man dressed in red and white. He got his first paying job. We had prayed about our pantry and our own personal finances, which have suffered over the last couple of years. When this job offer came, we knew it would be difficult being separated, but we knew it was a door of provision that God had opened.

We had a nice rental car. As the evening approached, it started to rain. The combination of darkness, rain, heavy traffic, and unknown roads made for a challenging trip. What should have taken three hours ended up taking five hours.

I was able to join Kevin as he worked the day before Thanksgiving on a “dry run”. The next day, we celebrated Thanksgiving with our family at Cracker Barrel. It was nice, but after dinner, it was time to go our separate ways.

We texted and talked every day. We knew the same God who was with Kevin in PA was with our daughter and me in Maryland.

Are you surrounded by shadows? Darkness can be physical and spiritual. Jesus can help in both areas. This marks the first day of December, and we can overcome the uncertainty because of Jesus.

“Then Jesus spoke out again, ‘I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NET
