I Can See Clearly Now

I Can See Clearly Now

There was a song by Johnny Nash in 1972 titled “I Can See Clearly Now”. 1

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-shiny day

Whether it’s raining on our car’s windshield or if our eyeglasses are smudged or wet, clearing our vision is a simple fix.

“While Jesus performed many miracles, healing the blind was a frequent and prominent theme in his ministry, representing both physical and spiritual sight. It appears in all four Gospels, with specific accounts including the healing of the man born blind, the healing of the blind men of Bethsaida, and the healing of Bartimaeus, among others. This prevalence suggests it was one of the miracles he performed most often, though the specific count varies between Gospel accounts.” Al Overview

During Jesus’ ministry, He often stated that He came not only for physical healing, but for spiritual healing as well. Isaiah 6:9-10, Matthew 13:14-15, John 9:39-41, Ephesians 4:17-18.

Many individuals during Jesus’ time on Earth expected the Messiah to be a mighty warrior and to solve all their problems, including the unfairness of the Roman government. Are we any different? We expect the Lord to solve all our problems in our time and to meet our expectations. God IS ready, willing, and able to help us, but the help may not reach our assumptions.

One thing I know. God promised to meet all our needs, not all our wants. When He answers prayers, He does so for our good and His glory. He also gives more than what we ask. “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-22 (ASV).
