Thankful

Happy Birthday!

Birthdays. We all have one day each year when we can celebrate. Yes, individuals of all ages have one, which means the more we have, the older we become.

My brother and I share the same birthday, but ten years apart. I would like to thank him for accepting this fact and allowing me this unique opportunity to connect with him.

As we celebrate, it’s a time to reflect on memories we’ve experienced, both good and challenging ones. Do we wonder what lies ahead? Maybe, but positive and negative ones have a purpose in our lives.

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV.

In our lifetime, we could experience a wedding, a new home or job, a new baby, or perhaps a loss of employment; the death of a family member, a house fire, or a long-term sickness. There are so many happenings that we may encounter; sometimes, several in a day or over several months. We love the good times, but how do we survive the bad ones?

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1Peter 5:6-7 NIV

Jesus cares!

He’s been to a wedding, had fellowship with His closest friends for three years while He walked this Earth. He shared in numerous feasts and celebrations with the multitudes. He also suffered the loss of His earthly dad, Joseph and His cousin, John the Baptist. In a final act of love and submission to His Father in Heaven and in love for all humanity, Jesus died a cruel and horrific death on the cross, so we can live forever with Him.
