In the TV series, “The Chosen”, Matthew, one of Jesus’ disciples makes a bold and honest statement that should capture the heart of every believer in Christ. “I have only one thing to do today: follow Him.”
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 (NIV)
What amazes me is that God knew me before I was created in my mother’s womb, and that He has already written in His book everything in my life that has, is, and will take place. “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16 (NIV). God knows all about you too! Each of us is breathtakingly unique; yet we are all created in His image. God has already written your story. How are we to live it out?
“Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22: 36-40 (KJV)
Before Jesus’ ascension to Heaven, He told His followers to wait in the city of Jerusalem, until they receive power from on high. Luke 24:49 (KJV). As Christians, we have the Holy Ghost in us to enable us to “act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God”. As we love God and love others, we can choose to serve our Creator by serving people. It can be in our everyday lives as we go to work, run errands for our families, or by taking time to listen and pray for a friend in need. With so much to do daily, remember there is only one thing I need to do today: follow Him!
Solo tengo una cosa que hacer hoy: seguirlo a Él
