Angels Among Us

There were two popular television shows with themes surrounding angels: “Highway to Heaven”, starring Michael Landon and Victor French from 1984 to 1989, and “Touched By An Angel”, starring Roma Downey, Della Reese, and John Dye from 1994 to 2003. Stories were told about how angels walked among humans and assisted them in many forms and fashions. Whatever the individual’s challenge, the angel’s mission was to help resolve the problem, offer suggestions for the human to move forward, and help that person see God in the midst of it all.

Angels are real.

“Are they {Angels} not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrews 1:14 NIV

Monday evening Kevin called me to let me know he needed to unload several heavy boxes of apples, potatoes, and sweet potatoes. He had taken these to our church family on Sunday and there were still several boxes. Kevin who is suffering from cracked ribs due to a fall would have had to unload all those boxes himself. I was ecstatic to hear what he said happened, “I saw a man approach me and I assumed he wanted food.” ‘Yes sir. How can I help you?’

“I’m here to help you, Pastor Kevin.” The man replied. He continued speaking with Kevin. “Your ribs and your sides are hurting, aren’t they?”

Kevin nodded. “Yes.”

The man said, “God will heal you.”

Kevin looked around and did not see the man’s car. “Where are you from?”

“Dundalk,” the man said.

Kevin reminded me again that he didn’t see any cars and that Essex is quite a distance from Dundalk. Kevin then told me that he didn’t do anything, but that the guy quickly emptied the back of the truck. He placed all the boxes outside at the end of the ramp.

“They will be okay here tonight,” the man told Kevin. “If they want to, your volunteers can move them inside in the morning.”

Kevin said that he turned toward his truck to give the guy his business card, but when he turned around again, the man was gone.

“He was an angel sent from God!” I exclaimed.

Remember, no matter what. God has your back and will handle it in the way that works for our good and for His glory.
