America, the Land I Love

November 5, 2024, we had an opportunity to cast our votes for the selection of President in our country. No matter the outcome, there can only be one winner selected for the next four year term. On Monday, November 11, 2024, we will celebrate Veteran’s Day. Both our newly elected president and our veterans need our prayers. No matter if in the White House or in a homeless community, everyone needs guidance and wisdom from the Lord. We should also respect them and if given the opportunity, thank a veteran for their service in defending our country.

Sister Brenda and Niece Angela
My sister Brenda Stoehr is a talented singer and musician. I’m not simply bragging on my sibling; our family loves the arts; especially, music and theater. Ms. Stoehr has made several recordings over the years. One particular song she wrote and recorded was inspired by our dad Richard Ashley. He heard the first half of the song, “America, the Land I Love” and strongly encourage her to complete and record it. Both our parents Richard and Kathryn Ashley met and fell in love during WWII. They served their country in the Army. Please check out her video on YouTube and feel free to share your comments. Yes, Ms. Stoehr was singing all the parts and the young man and woman in uniforms were our parents.
From all of us at “Love Thy Neighbor Food Pantry” we wish everyone a happy and safe Veterans Day.
