A Teachable Moment

My daughter Stephanie and I left early for the grocery store. Kevin needed the car to go to work and would be gone most of the evening. We shopped for the items on our list and were heading home. I drove in the middle lane, knowing the third lane was about to end and merge into a single one. I glanced to my right and saw a car speeding along my side. There was an exit ramp, but I felt the car was going too fast for it. At the last moment, the other vehicle’s driver raced ahead, swerved around me, and continued driving ahead in the same lane.
“Jerk!” I shouted, knowing the driver couldn’t hear me. I didn’t lay on the horn, but I did give it a slight push. Immediately, I knew in my heart I needed to forgive that person. “Lord, thank You for protecting us. I pray for that person to get to his or her destination safely.”
I then spoke to my daughter. “We needed to pray for that person. We also need to forgive them for their reckless driving. Thank God He protected us.”

Stephanie and Kevin
I am so thankful for the Christian legacy my parents passed down to our family. It’s so vital for families to have Christ in the center of their homes. In the good times and not-so-good ones, we can rest assure God has us in the palm of His hands.
