A Cup of Water
“For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in My name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.” Mark 9:41 (KJV)

Water. Cool and satisfying. It quenches our thirst like no other beverage. As children of God, we want to show our faith and our gratitude to God by loving and serving Him. Jesus said, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:34-25 (KJV)

Loving others. We can say “I love you”, but people can feel the love when our actions match our words. I attend a weekly time of prayer, songs, devotions and testimonies over the phone. It’s referred to as the “Prayer Circle.” A couple of weeks ago, our devotion (sermonette) was on this topic of giving someone a cup of cold water in the name of Jesus. It was noted that it didn’t have to be exclusively a cup of water, but could be a number of things: a hug; a smile; an encouraging word; a helping hand with food or clothing; the list is endless. We all have talents that God has given us so that we can be a blessing to others. What’s YOUR cup of water?
