There is a popular Gospel song that many Christian artists have recorded titled “Angels Watching Over Me”.
Are angels real and do they watch over and protect us? Yes!
“For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands, they shall bear you up. Lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Psalm 91:11-12 KJV
This past Tuesday, after our weekly food giveaway, Reverend Kevin fell from the edge of his box truck. His head bounced and hit the cement sidewalk two times. Thankfully two of our volunteers hurried to his side to check on him. He was a bit unsteady at first, but there was no bleeding nor did they detect any lumps or swelling.
I was notified of the incident and was aware of a possible concussion. When he arrived home, if I didn’t know he had fallen, I would never have known. He was warm, smiling and in a cheerful mood. God had protected him by sending His angels to catch him.
Just a note, Satan used this verse Psalm 91:11-12 during the temptation of Christ.
“Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Matthew 4: 5, 6 KJV
In this instance, Satan (who knows the Bible), used this verse out of context. He was trying to tempt the Son of God during the time of temptation in the wilderness.
Thanks be to our Lord and Savior! Kevin didn’t have any issues with his fall. He slept peacefully and awoke in the morning to head to work.
